Shaker Heights junior forward Connor Mayhugh is this week’s Ohio Hockey Digest Great Lakes Hockey League Player of the Week, presented by Battery Hockey Academy!
Mayhugh had quite the performance during the Thornton Park Tournament this past weekend, recording four goals and three assists.
His key assist on the game-winning goal helped Shaker Heights secure a 4-3 victory over Mentor on Sunday.
"Connor is a great skater, he's got great speed and a good shot," said Shaker's head coach Matt Bartley. "He's doing a good job generating some offense, he's been pretty successful at it. He works hard, he sets a good example for some of the younger kids in our program."
Shaker Heights finished the tournament strong, defeating Strongsville and Mentor en route to a 2-1 record on the weekend.
The Red Raiders face a true challenge this coming weekend as they gear up for the second half of back-to-back tournament action. Their opponents—Olentangy Liberty, Northview, and St. John’s Jesuit—offer no shortage of firepower, setting Shaker up for their toughest test of the year thus far.
